Thanksgiving weekend is right around the corner and 106.1 CHEZ wants to make sure that everyone in our community has a warm meal this holiday weekend.  Join us in collecting turkeys for the Ottawa Mission as part of the 106.1 CHEZ Turkey Drop at 2001 Thurston Drive!   We are asking that you help us raise as many turkeys as we can so that all 3000 plates of Thanksgiving dinner at the Ottawa Mission include turkey. You can drop off a 20lb frozen turkey at 2001 Thurston Drive Wednesday, October 2nd 6:30am-5:00pm and Thursday, October 3rd 6:30am – 3:00pm and we will deliver them all to the Ottawa Mission in time for Thanksgiving dinner!

About The Ottawa Missions’ annual Thanksgiving Holiday Dinner:

It will be held on Monday, October 14th in The Mission’s dining room at 35 Waller Street. This year, the shelter expects to serve between 2,000 and 3,000 plates of turkey dinner, which is more than double the number of breakfasts, lunches and dinners normally served on a regular day. It takes between 80 and 100 large frozen turkeys to serve everyone in need a plate of delicious Thanksgiving Dinner. What does it take to make dinner for so many?

  • 2,500 pounds of turkey
  • 300 pounds of baked ham
  • 450 pounds of mashed potatoes
  • 350 pounds of corn niblets and roasted red peppers
  • 350 pounds of green bean almandine
  • 2500 of assorted pies
  • 50 gallons of giblet gravy

Anyone in need or alone for the holidays is welcome to come in for a delicious turkey dinner and companionship between 11:30am and 5pm.
