The man behind the 1970 hit “Spirit In The Sky” is in critical condition following a Saturday (March 28) car crash that left one person dead.

According to reports, Greenbaum was the passenger in a Subaru Outback. The driver, Bonita Perea, made a left turn causing a motorcycle to hit the passenger side of the car. The motorcycle driver, Ihab Usama Halaweh was was killed instantly, while his passenger, Nhmia Mekonnen Kahsay, was seriously injured. She and Greenbaum are both in critical condition at Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital in California. Perea was unharmed. The California Highway Patrol are investigating the accident, and have already ruled out alcohol as a factor.
